Caterpillar Class - 2 year olds

Welcome to Caterpillar Class, our nurturing and play-based provision for two-year-olds.

Our room lead and Nursery Manager is Mrs Steadman, supported by our Teaching Assistant Miss Wilson.

Together, they create a warm and welcoming environment where children feel safe, loved, and confident, building strong relationships with the adults who care for them each day.

Curriculum

Caterpillar Class is a place where children truly belong. We focus on helping every child reach their full potential through meaningful play, sensitive interactions, and experiences that reflect their individual interests and needs. Learning is carefully woven into everything we do, supporting all seven areas of development, with a strong emphasis on the prime areas of communication and language, physical development, and personal, social and emotional development, through play, routines, and shared experiences.

Reading

We have a huge focus on developing a love of reading, learning through stories, songs, and rhymes. Children enjoy exploring a wide range of familiar and new stories, sharing books with adults, and joining in with songs each day. We also love hearing all about your child’s bedtime story box experiences, helping to strengthen the important link between home and nursery learning.

Outdoor Learning

Outdoor learning is an essential part of life in Caterpillar Class. We offer free-flow provision, allowing children to move between indoors and outdoors where they can get messy, stay active, and explore the natural world. Whether it is splashing in puddles, digging in the mud, or discovering nature, outdoor play supports curiosity, physical development, and wellbeing. Please be prepared for lots of messy fun, spare clothes are definitely needed.

Working Together

We recognise how important these early years are for both children and families. We are here to support those crucial parenting times and work closely with you and your health visitor, ensuring a whole-team, well-rounded approach to your child’s development. By working together, we aim to give every child the best possible start to their learning journey.
