School Council
What We Do
As part of the School Council team, pupils look for ways to help others. This includes supporting children who may be having friendship or bullying worries, encouraging kindness around the school, and sharing ideas from their classmates about how to improve school life. Councillors make sure everyone has a voice by bringing suggestions—like new clubs or activities—to the council meetings.
Looking to the future, our School Council has lots of exciting ideas. They want to promote kindness, be helpful role models, and work on creating fun spaces where pupils can play and get along. They have suggested organising new clubs, including ones led by School Council members during lunch or break times. They also hope to meet more people in the community, take part in activities such as litter picking, and visit the care home at Christmas time.
Pupil Voice
I want to be a school counsellor because....
"I want to make the school a better place for the children"
"I want children help children enjoy school"
"I want to try and help Mrs Telfer and the other teachers"
"I want to make school a fun place to be"
Star Table
Star Table is a special celebration that takes place once each term, recognising one child from every class. Teachers select a pupil who has demonstrated behaviour that reflects our school values.
The event is organised and run by our School Council, who carefully set up the table, serve the children during their meal, and clear away afterwards.
Those chosen are invited to Star Table as a way of celebrating their achievements and sharing in a moment of pride with others, making it a wonderful opportunity to highlight positive role models across the school community.
Dojo Reward System
As part of our whole school Dojo reward system, the school council met to discuss ideas for our top prizes. We decided that the children would earn prizes after hitting a certain milestone (100 points- Bronze, 200 points- Silver, 300 points-Gold and 500 points - Platinum.)
The children worked in pairs looking through catalogues and the internet and then discussed what prizes we thought were suitable for each milestone. The children then handed the list to Mrs Telfer for further discussion. They children are now enjoying earning dojos and are working hard to reach their rewards.
